(UNDER 16S ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT)

South African cellist Abel Selaocoe is redefining the parameters of the cello. He moves seamlessly across genres and styles and combines virtuosic performance with improvisation, singing and body percussion.

Abel is devoted to composing works and curating programmes that highlight the links between Western and non-Western musical traditions, broadening the horizons of classical music to reach a more diverse audience.

After sold-out noisenights performing solo and with his trio Chesaba, Abel is joined by The Bantu Ensemble to present music from his debut Warner Classics album ‘Where is Home’ (‘Hae Ke Kae’), which explores the African traditions and Western Baroque music that have shaped him.

Doors: 7pm | Last Entry: 8pm | Abel Selaocoe and the Bantu Ensemble: 8:30pm

Please note times are subject to change; arrive early to avoid disappointment.

BAG POLICY

Bag Size
Only one small bag per person is permitted, and it must not be bigger than A4 size (Height: 29.7cm / Width: 21cm / Depth: 15cm). Large bags - including backpacks - are not allowed, so please do make alternative arrangements.
Cloakroom
We have a cloakroom where we charge a small fee per item but space is limited, so please travel light. Obviously, the earlier you get there, the less busy it will be, but as long as you hold on to your ticket, it’s easy to get your stuff back. Security measures are in place with bag checks on arrival.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Ages
This event is strictly 14+. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. One adult can attend with a maximum of two Under 16s. Children who appear to look under the age of 14 that arrive at a show and cannot prove they are 14 or over may be refused entry, depending on the type of event. This decision will be made by the duty manager, and we retain the right to refuse entry without refund.
Tickets
Tickets for our shows can be booked online through our Events page, or in person from Reflex Records in Newcastle. Please always use a primary ticket seller when purchasing tickets. Tickets from unofficial sellers may not be valid and you could be refused entry.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

Key Information
THE ACCESSIBLE BAY FOR THIS EVENT IS FULL. Accessibility tickets are only purchasable through Ticketweb and once these tickets have been sold, we cannot accept any further accessibility requests.
Booking Accessible Tickets
